My Story: From Food Obsession to Freedom

I can’t remember a time when I wasn’t thinking about food or my weight.
Every bite felt like a decision that carried shame, guilt, or fear. I started dieting so young that I don’t have a single memory of eating without second-guessing myself.

What began as innocent “watching what I ate” turned into full-blown restriction. The thinner I became, the more confident I felt, at least on the outside. I had learned, like so many of us do, that being smaller somehow made me more worthy, more lovable. But beneath the surface, I was disappearing…physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

Of course, that kind of control doesn’t last forever. Eventually, the hunger won. And when it did, I binged, again and again. Back then, I thought I lacked willpower. I didn’t understand that my body was simply fighting for survival, that my brain was wired to protect me. The shame that followed each binge was crushing, but the cycle kept repeating.

Fast forward to today: after years of battling food, my body, and myself, I’m in a place I once thought impossible.

I no longer restrict, and I no longer binge.
I enjoy food, real food, with joy, not guilt.
My weight no longer swings wildly because my choices are rooted in nourishment, not punishment.
And most importantly, I no longer equate my worth with my size.

I’m not perfect—and that’s not the goal.
I’ve built a lifestyle centered on health, strength, and self-respect. The way I feel in my body now? That’s the byproduct of healing—not chasing.
