Expert Youth Counselling Services in Kelowna BC

Your teenager doesn't need to be fixed. They need to be heard.

Professional counselling for teens navigating anxiety, identity, trauma, and the weight of growing up in Kelowna and online across BC.

Adolescence has always been complicated. But right now, young people are carrying more than most of us understand,  the pressure to perform, to belong, to figure out who they are while the world keeps changing underneath their feet. When your child is struggling, it can feel frightening. And it can be hard to know how to help.

At Renew, we meet young people exactly where they are. No lectures. No quick fixes. Just a safe, confidential space where they’re allowed to be honest,  maybe for the first time in a long time. We work gently but purposefully, helping them understand what they’re feeling, build real coping skills, and find their footing again.

Youth Counselling
“This generation is not broken. They’re overwhelmed. And there’s a profound difference.”

If you’re a young person reading this

You don't have to have it figured out to come here.

You don't have to know how to explain what you're feeling. You don't have to be "bad enough" to deserve support. You just have to show up, we'll take it from there. This space belongs to you.

If you’re a parent reading this

You noticed something was wrong. That matters.

What we help young people with

We tailor our approach to each young person’s age, personality, and what they’re navigating. Some teens want to talk. Others need movement, creativity, or simply a quiet space to exist without pressure. We follow their lead, always within a clinically grounded framework.

Building trust first

We don't rush into the hard stuff. The first sessions are about safety helping your young person understand that this space is truly theirs, that nothing is shared without their knowledge (with limited, clearly explained exceptions), and that they will never be judged here.

Understanding what's underneath

Behaviour is often a message. We work with young people to understand what their emotions are really saying, whether it's anxiety showing up as avoidance, or anger masking deep hurt. Making sense of it is often the first relief they've felt in a long time.

Building real tools, not just coping strategies

We give young people practical, evidence-based skills drawn from CBT, DBT, and person-centered approaches, that they can actually use in their lives. Not worksheets for the sake of worksheets. Tools that genuinely shift how they move through hard moments.

Involving parents with care

We offer parent check-ins that support the therapeutic process without breaching your young person's trust. We'll help you understand what's happening and how to show up for them at home because healing doesn't only happen in the therapy room.

A note for parents: what to expect when your child starts counselling

It’s normal for teens to push back at first. They may say it’s pointless, that they’re fine, that they don’t need to go. That resistance is part of the process and our therapists are skilled at working gently through it. Most young people shift once they feel genuinely safe and unjudged.

Confidentiality is central to effective youth therapy. Your young person needs to know that what they share stays in the room, with clear, age-appropriate exceptions around immediate safety concerns, which we explain transparently to both of you at the start. We will always keep you informed of anything that requires your involvement, while protecting the therapeutic trust that makes this work.

Progress in youth counselling can look quiet from the outside. You may not hear what’s being discussed. But you will likely notice over time a young person who is more regulated, more communicative, and more like themselves again.
